Beyond Illusion: Exploring Perception, Ego, and Meditation on the Path to Truth; Transcriptions from May and June 2002 lectures

Description

In this book, one major area that Dr. Hawkins specifically focuses on, is to describe the structure of the ego and how it can be transcended:

He says: … if we understand something about the functions of the ego, its mechanisms, and its structure, and we observe its functioning in the world, it’s an easy step then to see that it’s probably going on within myself. If it’s not going on within myself, I wouldn’t find the world interesting. If it’s not going on within myself, I wouldn’t recognize it in a movie. So, we can say then that the world out there is a projection of what is within us.

Then, the serious student says, ā€œAnd how is that going on within myself?ā€ ā€œAnd how is that happening within myself?ā€

When a person can honestly ask these questions and be willing to accept the answers, major changes can occur, and a change of consciousness can happen.

This is the third book of a six-book series, transcribed from the lectures Dr. Hawkins gave in May and June of 2002. We are hopeful that by the end of this reading, you will have deeper insights about these following topics:

Part I:

  • Context vs Content and how Truth can become distorted.
  • The world out there is a projection of what is within us.
  • Everything is happening of its own and everything is perfect right now.
  • Quantum Mechanics – has to do with likelihoods and potentialities.
  • Prayer opens potentiality to the Infinite Reality.
  • Spiritual Truths can be heard, yet don’t sink in and how to alleviate this.

Part II:

  • Traditional Meditation – is this a requirement for spiritual growth?
  • The essence of Renunciation while living in a busy world
  • The benefits of Contemplation as a form of meditation
  • Letting go of attachments gives greater freedom and Peace of Mind.
  • How to go beyond Thinkingness
  • The most important emotion in spiritual work is that of love, and beyond that, devotion.
