Keeping One’s Own Counsel

Spiritual views are not very popular in society in general.  It is not necessary to impose one’s views on others.  Proselytizing is best done by example rather than by coercion and lapel grabbing.  We influence others by what we are rather than by what we say or have.  To express views that are contrary to public opinion may be sociologically praiseworthy but to do so leads to conflict and enmeshment in the arguments and discord in the world.  The pursuit of ‘causes’ is the role of the social and political reformer, which is an activity different from that of the seeker of enlightenment.  Praiseworthy endeavors can be seen as deserving of sympathetic support, but they are also perceptually defined positionalities with intrinsic limitations and agendas.  Embroilment in the issues of society is a luxury that the seeker of spiritual enlightenment needs to forego.

… The calling of the private-life aspirant is more socially humble but equally important and of service to the whole of mankind.  The social saint uplifts by external action and example.  The devotee uplifts by internal progression.  Every increase in the level of consciousness affects the consciousness of all mankind in a manner that is unsung but discernible and demonstrable by spiritual research.  The calibrated level of the consciousness of mankind is a composite resultant of everyone’s stage of evolution, and the higher calibrated levels are immensely more powerful than the negative ones.

You Are Worthy of the Quest

Start with the certainty that if you are spiritually oriented you will make progress. Start, therefore, with a feeling of security. Instead of insecurity or self-doubt, tell yourself that anyone who wants to evolve spiritually will receive the necessary assistance and his success is guaranteed by God, which is another name for his own Higher Power. Get rid of self-doubt, any idea that you are not worth it, or you are not capable of it, or that it is not the right time in your life. It is always the right time in your life. Accept without reservation that you are worthy of the quest. Be resolved to totally surrender to the truth about God and that your spiritual evolution is aligned with His will for you.

… This is devotion, dedication and the way of the heart.”

The Infinite is One’s Source

The infinite glory, greatness, and power of God has been severely and grossly underestimated and not comprehended by man. With the replacement of the self by the Self, the power of omnipotence is known by virtue of the fact that the Infinite is one’s source and reality.
… then emerged the exquisite onset of a state of consciousness in which the mind melted and became silent. A Presence – timeless, gentle, yet infinitely powerful – pervaded, and its overwhelming Love replaced mentalization.

Time stopped and the awareness of Oneness with eternity replaced all thought or sense of a personal self. The ‘I-ness’ of the Presence revealed itself as Allness. It was knowable as being beyond all universes – unspeakable, invisible, all pervading, inexplicable, and beyond names.

Like Goes to Like

Simple kindness to one’s self and all that lives is the most powerful transformational force of all.  It produces no backlash, has no downside, and never leads to loss or despair.  It increases one’s own true power without exacting any toll.  But to reach maximum power, such kindness can permit no exceptions, nor can it be practiced with the expectation of some selfish gain or reward.  And its effect is as far-reaching as it is subtle.

In a universe where “like goes to like” and “birds of a feather flock together,” we attract to us that which we emanate.  Consequences may come in an unsuspected way.  For instance, we are kind to the elevator man, and a year later, a helpful stranger gives us a hand on a deserted highway.  An observable “this” does not cause an observable “that.” Instead, in reality, a shift in motive or behavior acts on a field that then produces and increased likelihood of positive responses.   Our inner work is like building up a bank account, but one from which we cannot draw at our own personal will.  The disposition of the funds is determined by a subtle energy field, which awaits a trigger to release this power back into our own lives.

Spirituality Unites

In the United States Declaration of Independence, for instance, it was stated with great clarity by the originators that the rights of man stem from the divinity of their creation, and thus was established the principle of spirituality. However they differentiated this from religion by saying that citizens are to be free from the establishment of any religion. The founders were aware that religion divides and is based on secular power, whereas, spirituality unites and has no worldly organization.”
